For more than 60 years, GC Rieber Compact’s main goal has been to provide high quality products "For Life”.
Compact AS was established in Bergen, Norway in 1948 as a manufacturer of various household articles such as jams and marmalades. In 1953 the first compressed dehydrated food rations were developed for the Norwegian civil defense.
This concept has been the core operation since the household activities were sold in 1965. International sales started in 1956 and, as the only company specialized in this field globally, GC Rieber Compact’s export sales grew to a 95 % share of the total production.
Compact A/S Denmark was founded in 1992 to strengthen the Group's position in the European Union.
In 2009 Compact established Compact India Private Limited and started producing therapeutic food in India, using local raw materials and labour.
In September 2010 the Bergen-based Company GC Rieber bought Compact AS, and on 7 January 2013 the company name changed to GC Rieber Compact AS.
As a result of our constant investment in research and development, GC Rieber Compact offers unique recipes and packaging that make our products particularly valuable assets both for the humanitarian and maritime sectors.
